Why Focus On The Church

After working for years in the field of humanitarian relief, capturing video and sharing compelling stories of people in need, it became clear that one particular group of people were always present to help meet needs—Christians. They provide all kinds of relief that are specific to the recipients' needs and do so for as long as it takes to see it through.

Not that any other group didn't do the same, but there wasn't a part of the world that I traveled where the Christians—The Church—weren't working. Nor did it appear that any sector of humanitarian aid or area of basic human need was not being impacted in some way by The Church. And so I began to ask why.

Here were these people going out in very uncomfortable situations and threatening places working and living alongside people in need, providing for them, sharing their burdens. They ultimately were loving them right where they were--not at a distance.

Don't waste your life... throw it away for the cause of Christ.

——Aileen Coleman (The Desert Angel)

Yet, the mainstream culture in the U.S. characterizes Christians as intolerant, maniacal Bible-thumpers or as hyper-pious and ostentatious people. And of course, there are plenty of those among the flock, but it is not an accurate characterization of the average Christian.

And so I am endeavoring to show and highlight how The Church is impacting nearly every aspect of human condition in the world in which we live. It is my hope to inspire viewers to engage, respond and take action in supporting the missional efforts of the organizations and people working in the field.
